When it comes to spiritual growth, relationships are critical. Genuine life change occurs when God’s principles are worked out in real-life relationships within a group of like-hearted people. Small groups provide such an opportunity. They also serve as a means for creating a stronger sense of belonging. Many have shared with us that coming to church on Sunday was good, but once they joined a small group they felt they were coming with friends.
At Journey, small groups could look like any of the following: groups that are designed to challenge more mature followers of Christ, groups made up of people who are committed to a common task or interest, or groups where individuals who are struggling with specific problems can find a supportive environment. Building relationships is central to all of these.
